This is what Fast Printer Chooser 2.0 works to avoid. It is an easy to use manager that lets you administer and process various printing jobs simultaneously between different printers.
The whole configuration process is managed from an icon on the taskbar, informaing you at any moment of the state of the printing task and the volume of work still remaining, so you can see which is not busy, or which will become free soon.
